As part of the Beirut Marathon Association’s Mission & Vision, the charity is the key element of the association goal. This mission is to enable charitable organizations within Lebanon to benefit from sponsored participants and to raise awareness for their cause, if it’s humanitarian, social or educational.

Since 2003, the BMA introduced several program for Non Governmental Organizations (NGOS) in Lebanon to benefit from this number one sporting event in the region.

This year, the Beirut Marathon Association introduced the NGOs’ Partnership Program which is in the expressed interests of both the Beirut Marathon Association and a select group of NGO’s to form a partnership that will be mutually beneficial. The BMA shall offer great benefits and opportunities. To know more about the partnership program contact dana@beirutmarathon.org

Charities / Fundraising Ideas

Some Great Ideas for your Campaign: With your BLOM Beirut Marathon 2010 Fundraising Campaign, you can raise money, create awareness, get public exposure, and on top of all – have lots of fun with your entire team on Race Day! Here are some ideas that you can choose to adopt:

Start as soon as possible! Integrate November 18 into your fundraising plans and allocate time and staff to take care of your campaign.
Get your staff or runners to wear big fancy costumes, funny makeup, or run with big posters or banners. This will get the attention of the media covering the event and you will get bigger exposure!
Create an attractive package to get people to run for your cause: get fun t-shirts, caps, certificates, little thank-you gifts, and other items that will encourage people to join your team. Get some of your staff and friends to stand somewhere along the race course and cheer for your runners as they pass by! Give them the encouragement and support they need to make it through the race. if you want to book a cheering station kindly contact Dana Dbouk at 05/959262
Create an attractive public campaign: You need to advertise your charity in association with the Marathon – so come up with a fun slogan, a heart-warming message, a touching advertisement in a local paper and use these to captivate your runners and encourage their sponsors. Adopt a Refreshment Station on Race Day! You can provide us with any number of volunteers (different stations range from 5 to 50 volunteers) and benefit from branding that station with your flags, colors, and volunteer t-shirts!
Raise Fund Through the BLOM Beirut Marathon

If you're a registered association, that's all you need to become one of our Affiliated NGOs. It's simple & easy to spread awareness about your cause and raise some funds through the BLOM Beirut Marathon 2010.
Follow these simple steps!
Decide to take part in the run for social development: And don't forget to tell us about it! At the BMA, we're all about inspiring people to challenge themselves and achieve more. We also publish your NGO's profile and stories on our website's NGOs page and in our monthly magazine "Running Middle East". So keep in touch!
Set a liaison and communications officer who would be in charge of handling the social development program as it moves on.
Prepare simple administrative procedures: You will need to prepare a Sponsorship Form to give out to all your runners, so they can fill in the donations and pledges from their friends and family.
Begin Campaigning! You need to get the word out there so that runners are aware of your affiliation with the BLOM Beirut Marathon and are encouraged to join efforts and run for your cause. Here are some suggestions:

Introduction Letter introducing your NGO and highlighting reasons why people should run for the issues your NGO stands by.
Acknowledgement Letter for your runners to prove they are fundraising for your NGO when they approach friends, family members, co-workers, and small businesses.
Certificates can be provided by BMA or customized by your NGO as an encouragement scheme for the runners.
Award Schemes have proven useful as a means of encouraging runners to fundraise more money.
Publicity Material ranging from posters and banners to mass mailing and meetings will help gather more runners
Media Appearances can be arranged with local television or radio stations to talk more about your cause and activities. You can also send press releases to magazines and newspapers asking them to post these in their publications.
T-shirts/Caps/Costumes worn by your runners are an excellent way of giving exposure to your organization within the marathon.
Don't forget that our office is available on 05-959262 at any time from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm to help you with any questions or inquiries you might have. You can email our NGO/Fundraising Officer on dana@beirutmarathon.org. We're looking forward to hearing from you!
